Welcome to the S.C. State Guard Military Academy. Our mission is to provide relevant, operationally-geared training and support designed to enhance the effectiveness, productivity and readiness of the S.C. State Guard. The Academy demands excellence at all levels from our cadre to our students, thus ensuring that we capitalize on previous successes, build for the future, and further develop the strength of of our NCO and officer corps. Our commitment to the student is our highest priority.

The 2013 training cycle will be one of transition for the S.C. State Guard (SCSG) Military Academy. All course materials are being reviewed to ensure relevance with the SCSG Mission Essential Task List (METL) and State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) support requirements. Additionally, a major effort is underway to coordinate the Academy and unit-level training curricula so that they complement and support each other.
There will also be a new venue for all classes in 2013; the S.C. National Guard McCrady Training Center located on Leesburg Road, approximately 20 miles from Columbia. The state-of-the-art facilities at McCrady coupled with the opportunity to train with the National Guard and other elements of the armed forces will take our training to a new level.
The ultimate objective is to ensure that all S.C. State Guardsmen are prepared to meet the increased tempo and complexity of our broad mission; providing qualified “boots on the ground” to support missions for up to 48 hours in times of need. The Academy’s professional staff, many of whom have prior U.S. military or State Guard leadership experience, will share their knowledge and skills to prepare Guard members for the future.
We recognize that every attending student’s participation at the Academy represents a significant commitment of time and effort. In turn, we will ensure that every student leaves the Academy both well-prepared and having had an enriching and rewarding training experience.
